Lavender Blueberry Lemonade

My daughter and I discovered lavender blueberry lemonade at New Moon Cafe in downtown Augusta a couple years ago and ... y'all, it's divine. Since it's a bit of a drive for us, we can't just swing by daily so I decided to make a pitcher at home. This includes products available on the Augusta Locally Grown online farmers market from Herb n Berries and White Hills Farm.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp culinary lavender (be on the lookout for this product NEXT WEEK on the ALG online market)

  • 1 cup lemon juice

  • 3 cups cold water

  • purple food coloring (or 1 drop blue, 2 drops red); optional

  • fresh or frozen blueberries

Directions:

  1. Combine water, sugar, and lavender in a pan over medium heat. Stir and let simmer until sugar has melted.

  2. Remove pan from heat and cool to room temperature.

  3. Strain out the lavender.

  4. Add the sugar water to a pitcher.

  5. Next, add the lemon juice and water.

  6. Stir well and add food coloring if you're feelin' fancy.

  7. Pour yourself a glass of lavender lemonade with a handful of blueberries.
